Folorunsho's Lazio Move Uncertain As Transfer Deadline Approaches

The situation with Michael Folorunsho remains precarious. With just over 24 hours left in the summer transfer window, Folorunsho is still holding out for Lazio, rejecting offers from Fiorentina, Rennes, and Bologna with a consistent response: "No thanks, I'm waiting for Lazio." However, there is a risk that he might remain at Napoli as an unwanted player, and circumstances could change between tonight and tomorrow.

Folorunsho prefers Lazio, and his agent, Giuffredi, has negotiated a contract worth 1.2 million per season with Lazio president Lotito. The only missing piece is an agreement between Lotito and Napoli president De Laurentiis. Napoli is asking for a yearly loan with a mandatory buy option set at 12 million euros, a term Lazio is unwilling to accept. Lazio views Folorunsho as a valuable player but not an urgent priority, especially with the substantial mandatory buyouts of Rovella and Luca Pellegrini expected in the summer of 2025.

As a result, Lazio is proposing either an annual loan with a right to buy or a two-year loan with a mandatory buy option, both of which Napoli's De Laurentiis has rejected so far. Lazio will continue to wait for a possible concession from Napoli, hoping Folorunsho does not agree to other offers. If the situation does not change, Lazio’s transfer activity will conclude with the acquisition of Gigot from Marseille. Fabiani believes the squad is complete, with any further additions potentially postponed until January. Lazio views Folorunsho as an opportunity but only if the conditions are right.
