Bologna And Lazio Finalize Casale Transfer As Lazio Pursue Additional Reinforcements

Bologna have reportedly finalized a deal to acquire Lazio defender Nicolò Casale just before the summer transfer window closes. Lazio are said to be dissatisfied with Casale's performances in the first two Serie A matches and is open to his departure.

Casale, who joined Lazio in the summer of 2022 after emerging from Hellas Verona's academy, is set to transfer to Bologna. The 26-year-old's time at Lazio has been inconsistent, with his most recent appearance against Udinese being particularly underwhelming.

As a result, Lazio are seeking to strengthen their defense, with Samuel Gigot from Olympique Marseille being a key target. However, to make room for Gigot, Lazio needs to offload Casale first.

Fortunately for Lazio, Bologna has stepped in, with journalist Alfredo Padulla reporting that the two clubs have reached a full agreement for Casale's transfer. The deal involves a loan with a mandatory purchase option under specific conditions.

The loan is valued at 1 million euros, while the purchase price is set at 7 million euros. If Bologna qualifies for European competition next season, the mandatory purchase clause will be triggered.

However, Lazio must first secure a replacement for Casale before finalizing the deal, risking a potential shortage in their defensive lineup.
