Baroni: "We Conceded Two Poor Goals, Just Like We Did In The Game Against Venezia. When Playing Against A Team That Defends, You Can't Give Them This Kind Of Advantage."
After Lazio's 2-1 loss to Udinese in their second Serie A match on Saturday night at the Bluenergy Stadium, coach Marco Baroni issued a warning to his team. He pointed out a key mistake made by defender Alessio Romagnoli during the match and emphasized the need for the team to be more effective in attack.
In the match, Lazio fell behind by two goals—first from Lorenzo Lucca's header and then a goal from Florian Thauvin, despite Udinese being down to 10 men.
"We conceded two poor goals, just like we did in the game against Venezia," Baroni said to Sky Sport Italia.
"They are a physically strong team, which made it difficult, but we need to improve and be more decisive both in defense and attack."
"We entered their penalty area 48 times compared to their 13, so it's tough to turn things around when they defend so deep. We knew we had to improve and move the ball faster."
There was some confusion over the first goal, as the offside flag was raised when Lucca met a cross, but the referee didn't blow the whistle, and VAR later confirmed the linesman was wrong.
Baroni also criticized Romagnoli for stopping play to raise his hand in protest instead of continuing to play.
"We can't stop like that. You can see Romagnoli on the right raising his hand, but you must play until the whistle blows. We can't afford these small mistakes."
"When playing against a team that defends, you can't give them this kind of advantage."
