Baroni: "I Expect Growth From The Players. Hierarchies Are Based On How Hard Someone Trains And Performs On The Pitch. We Have A Group Of Good Players With Strong Values, Which Helps In Mentoring The Younger Ones."

In his post-match press conference, Marco Baroni expressed satisfaction with Lazio's performance in their win against Venezia, especially their ability to recover after falling behind early.

"I have to commend the players for their performance. I asked them to step up in these matches where we're still finding our rhythm, and they delivered. Despite starting behind, the team applied pressure effectively, and our ball control was strong, though there's room for improvement in this area. I like how we dominated the game while also being aggressive in our recoveries. Our defenders were particularly impressive in maintaining that aggression. There's still much work to be done, but I want to thank the team and the fans—it was a truly fantastic evening."

Baroni emphasized the importance of starting the season well and noted that the team, including new and young players, is prepared and eager to improve. He highlighted the need to support players like Taty Castellanos, who has more space to shine this season, and Dele Bashiru, who has great potential but needs to adapt to their style of play.

"We know that there has been a change, but the team is ready and prepared. I am convinced that these new, young guys have room for improvement and we must help them, support them. I found a participation of the group and a sharing of what we propose and this allows you to reduce the adaptation time"

"I expect growth from the players. Of course, Taty is not a surprise for me, a player who needs to play. Here was a champion who made history, this year he knows he will have more space and that the team will work for him. This team must put balls in because we have players who need to improve in attacking the goal, and Taty is someone who knows how to do it. Dele Bashiru is a boy with great potential but he must understand our football. To do that he must train hard and play. We have good players who are growing, but the important thing was the attitude that I found good in the team"

Regarding team dynamics, Baroni stressed that playing time is earned through hard work, not reputation, and he appreciates the group's strong values. He also mentioned that while the transfer market is still ongoing, his focus is on the players currently in the squad.

"I don’t want to discuss the transfer market—it’s unfair to the players who are already here. There might be some departures, and we’ll see if anyone comes in to help."

"Hierarchies are based on how hard someone trains and performs on the pitch. No one plays just because of their name anymore; that’s true for every team. We have a group of good players with strong values, which helps in mentoring the younger ones. I’m fortunate in that regard, though I don’t hand out playing time lightly—the players are the first to demand this."
