[Official] Marcos Antonio Leaves Lazio Again, This Time Joining São Paulo On Loan With A Purchase Obligation

The official announcement has now arrived: Marcos Antonio is leaving Lazio on loan with a conditional obligation to buy. He is moving to Brazil to join São Paulo, where he hopes to revive his career after two difficult years. The Brazilian club announced:

"Marcos Antonio, 24 years old, arrives at the Tricolore on loan until 30 June 2025."

After spending last season on loan at PAOK, the Lazio midfielder will leave immediately. In an interview with TNT Sports, São Paulo's sporting director Carlos Belmonte provided details of the deal:

"We will pay 150,000 euros for the loan until the middle of next year. Then we have the obligation to buy him for 4.2 million euros, payable over three years. This obligation is tied to a condition: if he plays 50% of the matches for at least 45 minutes, we must buy him. If he meets this objective, we consider him a first-team player and will finalize the permanent transfer. We also have a three-year contract agreement with him if we buy him out. For now, we are only paying 150,000 euros."
