[Official] Castrovilli Chooses To Continue His Career With Lazio Following The End Of His Fiorentina Contract

Gaetano Castrovilli has officially joined Lazio. The club announced his free transfer from Fiorentina in a press release on its website. Castrovilli had already joined coach Baroni's team in Auronzo before the official announcement.

The 27-year-old midfielder, a product of Bari's youth system, spent seven years at Fiorentina, where he made a significant impact during the 2019/20 season, establishing himself as one of Serie A's top young talents. He was part of Roberto Mancini’s Italy squad that won Euro 2020, although he played a limited role.

Recurring knee injuries have hindered Castrovilli's recent seasons, leading Fiorentina to release him at the end of last season. Despite these setbacks, Lazio decided to take a chance on his potential, giving him an opportunity to revive his career in Rome.

Although the official statement did not disclose contract details, earlier reports suggest Castrovilli signed a one-year contract with an option for two additional seasons, with a salary slightly above €2 million.
