Lazio Set Sights On Castrovilli Again To Bolster Midfield

Lazio are reportedly interested in signing former Fiorentina midfielder Gaetano Castrovilli, who is currently a free agent. The club seek to bolster their midfield options following Luis Alberto's departure to Qatar last month.

Reports indicate that Lazio have send an offer to Castrovilli, a 27-year-old midfielder who began his career at Bari and joined Fiorentina in 2017. Castrovilli emerged as a key player in Serie A during the 2019/20 season, but injuries have since hindered his progress. As a result, Fiorentina released him at the end of the last season, and he is now looking to rejuvenate his career with a new team.

Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla has reported that Lazio have offered Castrovilli a contract until 2025, with an option to extend until 2026. Although Castrovilli has yet to accept the offer, negotiations are ongoing.

Castrovilli, who can play both as a box-to-box midfielder and in an advanced role behind the striker, has earned four caps with the Italian national team, scoring one goal. He was part of the squad that won Euro 2020 under Roberto Mancini, though he only made a single substitute appearance during the tournament.
