Lazio Are Keeping An Eye On Gent's 19-Year-Old Fernandez-Pardo To Strengthen Their Attack

Born in 2005 and holding Belgian nationality, Matìas Fernandez-Pardo is emerging as a potential target for Lazio to bolster their attacking lineup. According to transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio, the Gent winger has caught the interest of the Biancoceleste club, despite being monitored by several other teams, including Fonseca's Milan.

Fernandez-Pardo is an offensive winger who can also function as a second striker. Standing at 183 cm, the Belgian talent possesses various attributes: speed, tight space maneuverability, and excellent ball control with both feet. A right-footed winger who often cuts in from the left, Fernandez-Pardo had a standout season last year. He accumulated significant minutes in the Jupiler Pro League and its European qualification stages, with three appearances in the Conference League and its qualifiers. In the Jupiler Pro League, he made sixteen appearances, mostly as a starter between March and May, scoring seven goals and providing two assists. His impressive performances included goals against teams like Standard Liege, Leuven, Westerlo, Mechelen, and Sint-Truiden.

Fernandez-Pardo's goals were crucial in helping Gent finish the final phase of the competition with eight wins and two losses, securing a spot in the Conference League playoffs. As of this evening, Gent will begin their campaign against Vikingur of the Faroe Islands in the second qualifying round. The Jupiler League season kicks off on July 28, with Fernandez-Pardo and his teammates set to play against Kortrijk.

Lazio are not alone in pursuing Fernandez-Pardo, indicating a competitive race for his signature. According to Fabiani, Lazio are currently focused on player departures to potentially make room for the Gent playmaker. With the season approaching, it will soon become clear if Lazio's transfer activities are complete or if they will continue to strengthen their squad, which has seen significant departures recently.
