Lotito: "Everything Has Been Settled With Verona, And Baroni Is Now Lazio's Coach."
Lazio president Claudio Lotito has announced Marco Baroni as the club's new coach and criticized fans planning to protest his appointment.
Lazio made this decision amidst recent turmoil, including Maurizio Sarri's resignation in mid-March, followed by Igor Tudor's brief tenure and subsequent resignation due to disagreements over transfer strategies.
The club selected Marco Baroni, who recently helped Hellas Verona avoid relegation and kept them in Serie A despite overhauling the squad in January.
"Everything has been settled with Verona, and Baroni is now Lazio's coach," Lotito told Il Messaggero.
"We chose him because he's a capable coach and we believe he's the right fit for us. I've received positive feedback from four club presidents who praised my decision. Even Sarri spoke highly of him."
However, not all fans are pleased, as the Biancoceleste ultras plan to protest Baroni's appointment and Lotito's management of the club next Sunday.
"Those opposing him are likely the same ones who opposed my appointments of Simone Inzaghi, Stefano Pioli, and Vladimir Petkovic. There must be a reason why a respected figure like Adriano Galliano supports him, right?" Lotito responded.
Before accepting Lazio's offer, Baroni had discussions with Monza and Cagliari. He is set to sign a two-year contract with a salary of 1.5 million Euros per season plus bonuses.
