Lazio Fight To Retain Rising Star Jacopo Sardo Amid Interest From Top Clubs

Jacopo Sardo has emerged as a standout player for Lazio Primavera, earning a spot in the Top 11 of the championship and a call-up to the Italian Under 19 team for the upcoming stage in Tirrenia. His impressive performance has attracted the attention of top Italian clubs and beyond, while Lazio is keen to secure his future with the club.

The 2005-born midfielder has drawn interest from many teams, prompting Lazio to offer him a three-year professional contract, as reported by Il Corriere dello Sport. However, an agreement on economic terms and planning has yet to be reached.

A new meeting is scheduled in about ten days. If Sardo does not sign by July 1st, he will be free to choose his next team. Nevertheless, Lazio will receive a 'Training Compensation' if he leaves the club. In the meantime, coach Corradi has called him up for an internship with the Italy U19 team, and Sardo will soon find out if he made the final list for the competition.

Several clubs, including Palermo, Roma, Empoli, and Milan, have shown interest in Sardo. Fiorentina has also been in frequent contact with the player. From abroad, Aston Villa and Rangers are interested, though they would require a work permit, while Saarbrücken, Hamburg, and Leverkusen have also inquired, albeit with a lower training compensation. Lazio remains hopeful they can persuade Sardo to stay with the Biancoceleste.
