Diego Gonzalez Eyes First Team Breakthrough Under New Lazio Coach Marco Baroni

With the Sarri era and Tudor's brief stint now behind them, Lazio is looking to move forward under new coach Marco Baroni. This transition is especially significant for Diego Gonzalez, who joined Lazio from Mexico in January 2022. Born in 2003, Gonzalez will no longer be eligible to play with the Primavera team next season, having completed his last season as a non-quota player, missing the final five matchdays and the playoffs due to regulations.

Gonzalez is now aiming for a spot on the first team, having scored 10 goals and provided 5 assists in 23 youth-level appearances. Under Tudor, he would likely have left the club this summer. However, Baroni plans to evaluate him during the training camp in Auronzo di Cadore before making any decisions about his future. In January, both Salernitana and Frosinone showed interest in Gonzalez. His main focus now is earning a call-up to the Paraguay U23 team for the Olympics.
