Eriksson: "Thank You So Much For Everything. I Remember Very Beautiful Years For Me, I Had A Great Time, It's The Memory Of A Lifetime."
The match between Lazio and Sassuolo was not just the Biancoceleste's final game of the season; it was also a moment to honor Felipe Anderson and Sven-Göran Eriksson. Eriksson arrived at the Olimpico Stadium to receive tributes from the Lazio fans. The Curva Nord dedicated a beautiful choreography to the former coach, featuring the centenary shirt with the Swedish flag, tricolor rosette for the Italian Cup victory, and the centenary logo, all under the word "Sven."
The entire Lazio community paid homage to Eriksson, with banners displayed in the Curva Maestrelli and Tribuna Tevere. One particularly poetic banner read, "You tore up the hegemony of the North with your foil, you led an exceptional group with elegance. Thank you, Mister Sven, you are in the heart of every Lazio player."
Eriksson, who is battling a serious illness, was greeted with emotion and chants. He entered the pitch, shaking hands with children while holding a Lazio shirt with his name. Smiling and visibly moved, he responded to the applause.
He then shook hands with the current squad, including coach Igor Tudor, and exchanged a few words with Ciro Immobile before posing for photos with the striker and the current coach.
"Thank you so much for everything. It's wonderful to see so many people. You are strong. I remember very beautiful years for me, I had a great time, I've never had such a strong team. It's the memory of a lifetime, thanks for the invitation and good luck to all for today. Thank you, thank you, thank you,” he said.
