Lotito: "This Match Epitomized The Absence Of Sporting Integrity. We Have To Make Sure There Is A Third Party, An External Agency That Can Evaluate Whether This Is A Coincidence Or Not."
Lazio President, Claudio Lotito, expressed dissatisfaction with what he perceived as unfair treatment towards his team during their match against AC Milan. He advocated for the establishment of external oversight bodies to ensure fairness in such situations.
AC Milan secured a 1-0 victory over Lazio at the OlÃmpico stadium, consolidating their position in third place with 56 points, trailing leaders Inter Milan by 13 points.
In contrast, Lazio remained in ninth place with 40 points, trailing Atalanta by six points in sixth position.
Claudio Lotito, the president of Lazio, voiced strong discontent regarding the three red cards awarded by referee Marco Di Bello. In a post-match press conference, Lotito deemed the defeat unnatural and coerced.
Expressing his frustration, Lotito stated, "I am unfamiliar with Di Bello's background or origins. The Lega must introduce a third-party mechanism outside the existing structure. There seems to be a lack of respect for regulations and achievements today."
He continued, "This defeat feels unjust and contrived, almost predetermined. I am aware of the channels through which we should seek intervention and support."
Lotito emphasized the importance of upholding the sporting values in football, criticizing the match for lacking such values. He remarked, "This match epitomized the absence of sporting integrity. My reaction isn't one of mere disappointment but rather a certainty about the observed occurrences."
"This is not the first time this has happened, not just for our team, but in other situations, we have to make sure there is a third party, an external agency that can evaluate whether this is a coincidence or not," Lotito concluded.
For the record, since Palermo versus Bologna in November 2012, no side has been shown three red cards in a single Serie A game.
