Change Of Plan: Lotito Has Reached An Agreement With Tudor To Replace Sarri As Coach Of Lazio
Lazio are changing plans following the departure of Sarri's coaching staff. Reports suggest the club is swiftly moving to secure a replacement, with Igor Tudor emerging as the likely candidate. Following a meeting at Villa San Sebastiano, club president Lotito and sporting director Fabiani appear to have settled on Tudor.
The Croatian coach, known for his stints at Marseille and Verona, seems poised to step into the vacancy left by Sarri. Negotiations, facilitated by Tudor's agent Seric, have reportedly resulted in a contract agreement until 2025, with the possibility of extension contingent on meeting certain objectives until 2026.
Formalities are expected to be finalized with signatures on Sunday, with interim coach Martusciello overseeing the team's upcoming match against Frosinone. While it's speculated that Martusciello may continue as Tudor's assistant until June, confirmation is pending.
Tudor, aged 45 and a former Croatian international defender, is no stranger to Serie A, having managed clubs like Galatasaray, Udinese, Hajduk Split, Hellas Verona, and most recently Olympique Marseille in Ligue 1. Additionally, he served as Andrea Pirlo's assistant at Juventus during the 2020/21 season.
