Enrico Lotito: "We Didn't Perform Well In Serie A, However, Things Have Gone Well In Europe So Far, And We Will Strive To Replicate That Against Bayern."
Enrico Lotito, the director of Lazio, acknowledged that his club was caught off guard by the draw that pitted them against Bayern Munich in the last 16. However, he made it clear that his team would not back down and would continue to fight until the very end.
By securing second place in Group E, just behind Atletico Madrid, Lazio has triumphantly accomplished their goal for this season, successfully earning a spot in the knockout stages of the 2023/24 Champions League.
When The Aquile last made it to the last 16 of the UCL, they faced Bayern Munich and were defeated with a total score of 6-2. The Bavarian powerhouses are currently positioned second in the Bundesliga, trailing leaders Bayer Leverkusen by four points but with an extra game to play.
In a conversation with Sport Mediaset, Enrico Lotito shared his thoughts on the outcome of the Biancoceleste's round of 16 draw, where they were paired with Bayern.
"We have encountered some truly formidable opponents, and Bayern Munich ranks among the most challenging. However, it is important to note that we have earned our place here, and we will not back down. Our determination will carry us through until the very end."
In Serie A, the Aquile director highlighted the stark contrast between his team's approach and performance in comparison to their performance in the Champions League.
"We didn't perform well in Serie A; the team needs to improve in order to move up the standings." However, things have gone well in Europe so far, and we will strive to replicate that against Bayern, even though we have skilled opponents ahead of us in this competition."
After 16 games, Maurizio Sarri's team is now positioned 11th in Serie A, with six victories and three draws.
