Sarri: "Celtic Is A Formidable Team Due To Their Exceptional Rhythm And Technical Ability. They Are Not A Team To Be Taken Lightly And Are Difficult To Defeat."
Ahead of the upcoming match on matchday 5 of the UCL group stage between Lazio and Celtic at the Stadio Olimpico, coach Maurizio Sarri had high praise for the opposing team. He also offered a warning to his team, reminding them not to let complacency set in.
At present, Celtic, managed by Brendan Rodgers, can be found at the bottom of their Champions League group as they have only obtained one point in their initial four matches. Conversely, Lazio emerged victorious with a score of 2-1 when they last played Celtic in October of the previous year. The match saw veteran Pedro score a late goal that secured the win for Lazio.
While the Scottish team may be struggling in the top tier of European football this season, Sarri made it clear that his squad should not underestimate the upcoming match as an easy win.
"Celtic is a formidable team due to their exceptional rhythm and technical ability. They are not a team to be taken lightly and are difficult to defeat." Said the coach as quoted by the Glasgow Times.
"We shouldn't be deluded by their poor results on the away match, they were conditioned by the numerical inferiority in both matches. It will be a complicated match for us."
"I said what I had to say to the team yesterday, now we need to regroup without thinking about what happened in Salerno. Let's hope that the atmosphere of the Champions League gives us that something extra."
