Gila's January Request: Seeking A Move From Lazio, Open To Loan Or Permanent Transfer

Last March, the Italian media outlet 'Il Messaggero' connected Espanyol with Mario Gila, the center back for SS Lazio. Gila, a former Real Madrid defender, played only 12 games last year, with 4 in Serie A and 8 in European competition. He didn't display the expected skill set that Sarri had hoped for. With just 764 minutes of playtime, his performance was subpar, and this year is shaping up to be equally disappointing.

Despite being a part of Maurizio Sarri's plans, Mario Gila has yet to play a single minute this season. The Spanish center-back has been overlooked during the challenging beginning of the season.

As per the report by Il Messaggero, the circumstances have left Gila with a sense of remorse over the offers that had been declined during the summer. Consequently, the players from the 2000 class may seek a transfer during the upcoming January window. This could either be a temporary move to acquire more experience or a permanent one to embark on fresh endeavors.

During the summer, multiple clubs presented offers for the defender, and they might rekindle their interest in January. Currently, Mario Gila continues to be monitored by Espanyol and Rayo Vallecano.

Should this situation come to fruition, Lazio has their sights on Guarino (currently on loan at Empoli from Inter) as a potential replacement.
