Sarri: "From The First Minute, I Was Pleased With Vecino And Rovella's Debut Because They Played In A High-Level Match."
After a string of underwhelming results at the beginning of the season, Lazio was finally able to secure a victory against Torino on Wednesday (27/09). Maurizio Sarri praised the team's performance, stating that they had played at a high level. The final score was 2-0 in favor of Lazio.
At the Stadio Olimpico, Lazio clinched a crucial 2-0 victory against Torino, earning a full 3 points due to the goals of Matias Vecino and Mattia Zaccagni. Their supporters had previously jeered them after a draw against Monza, making this win over Torino a significant comeback for Sarri's team.
Lazio will quickly turn their attention to their upcoming match against Milan on September 30th, before facing Celtic in the second group match of the Champions League on 4 October.
Sarri provided his input regarding Lazio's hard-earned triumph against Torino.
"It was a difficult evening with many difficulties, not the least of which was facing a difficult team," stated the coach via Sky Sport Italia. "We had a good first half and in the second half we showed quality, this was a high-level match."
Then the Italian coach proceeded to mention the steadfastness of his team when facing Ivan Juric's team.
"They are a solid team, the back line was a little under pressure, the team allowed this solidity, after the first goal the players were more relaxed also from a competitive point of view."
In addition, the coach praised Daichi Kamada's ability to get into the penalty box and his strength in the middle.
"Kamada also has those characteristics, then again he doesn't have the physicality of Vecino, but today we tried to find a midfielder who would give extraordinary solidity to the team," he said.
"When teamwork becomes easier, several players deserve to be praised; I believe that with their attitude today, whoever plays, the team will appear solid."
"From the first minute, I was pleased with Vecino and Rovella's debut because they played in a high-level match. They discovered the proper situation, and we saw the outcome of the situation."
