Lazio Is Attempting To Extend Provedel's Contract This Season

Lazio is reportedly ready to offer a new contract to their main goalkeeper, Ivan Provedel. The goalkeeper's value has increased in the wake of his exceptional performance in the Champions League last Tuesday, where he scored the game-tying goal against Atletico Madrid.

Reports on Thursday (21/09) suggest that Lazio has formulated an offer to extend Ivan Provedel's contract with updated terms and conditions. The goalkeeper, who is 29 years old, caught the attention of the footballing world this week by scoring a goal with his head in the first match of the Champions League group stage, earning a valuable point for his team against Atletico Madrid, led by Diego Simeone.

The Aquile's success last season in Serie A was largely attributed to his heroic performances, especially in goalkeeping, where he managed to keep 17 more clean sheets than any other goalkeeper. What sets his record apart is that Provedel was not initially considered to be a starter at the beginning of the season. However, six minutes into the 2022/23 season, last summer's signing Luis Maximiano was sent off and replaced by the Italian goalie who has been untouchable since.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Provedel presently earns roughly 1.2 million Euros each year. And, according to the newest news in the publication Il Messaggero, Biancoceleste are willing to enhance his wage following an exceptional year for the goalie on a personal level.

The Aquile have an internal policy of not providing new contracts to newly recruited players, but after being named Serie A's top goalkeeper for the 2022/23 season, tying down Provedel to a long-term contract has become a priority.
