[Friendly] Aston Villa - Lazio = 3 - 0
Last night, Lazio played their first pre-season game outside of Italy, against Aston Villa.
Regrettably, Lazio's fourth pre-season game gave an unsatisfactory result as they were defeated 0-3 by Aston Villa. This setback occurred just before the start of the upcoming Italian League season.
Maurizio Sarri's Lazio team has demonstrated an impressive record in their last three pre-season matches, remaining undefeated and successfully maintaining a clean sheet in each game.
During the match, Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins managed to break the deadlock in the first half, precisely in the 36th minute. This came as redemption for his earlier missed penalty.
In the 55th minute, John McGinn who come from the substitute bench delivered an impressive second goal during the latter half of the game.
Up until the final minutes of the game, Lazio had failed to find the back of the net. However, in a twist of events, Lazio defender Mario Gila inadvertently scored an own goal just before the end of the match.
The perfect pre-season record is no longer intact after Lazio's 0-3 defeat to Aston Villa.
Girona will be Lazio's next pre-season opponent outside of Italy before returning to play the final friendly encounter with Latina in memorial for D'Amico.
