Zielinski Is No Longer Lazio's Primary Target; Samardzic Has Emerged As An Alternative
According to reports, Lazio is prepared to compete with Inter Milan in their pursuit of Udinese midfielder Lazar Samardzic during the upcoming summer transfer window.
During the previous season, Lazar Samardzic made a notable impression as a rising star in the Serie A league. As a Serbia international born in Germany, he experienced a remarkable season, gradually assuming a more significant role for Udinese as the season unfolded.
There has been speculation circulating that Friulani may no longer be able to retain Samardzic. It is rumored that big teams in Serie A are now contemplating the prospect of acquiring the player.
In recent weeks, there has been a frequent association between Samardzic and Inter Milan. The Nerazzurri have expressed interest in acquiring an additional midfielder to bolster their squad for the upcoming season. Their objective is to secure a young player who possesses the potential for further growth and improvement.
In the meantime, reports are suggesting that clubs like Napoli and Juventus are keeping a close eye on Samardzic. Nevertheless, a new leading contender has recently surfaced as a potential signee for the Serbian international.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Milinkovic-Savic's move to Saudi Arabia's Pro League club, Al-Hilal, has left Lazio with a big hole in the midfield. Biancoceleste has considered numerous options.
Recent reports have identified Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski as Maurizio Sarri's primary goal. However, the pursuit was fruitless. And, the outlet reports that the Poland international is no longer their primary target.
Instead, the tabloid claims that the Italian capital's squad is contemplating Samardzic or Daichi Kamada. Kamada almost joined AC Milan on a free transfer this summer after his contract with Eintracht Frankfurt expired. The Rossoneri, however, never completed the move.
Kamada is now expected to join Atletico Madrid. As a result, Samardzic became the main target for Lazio's midfield. Udinese are looking for at least €20 million for the 21-year-old. However, given the money Lazio paid for Milinkovic-Savic, the cost of luring Samardzic to the Italian capital may not be an issue.
