Sarri: "To Be Honest, I've Had Several Offers. For Now I'm Still Happy At Lazio. So Talking About Money Is Pointless."
Maurizio Sarri disclosed that he had been offered to coach in Saudi Arabia for the upcoming season. Despite being offered an exceptional salary, the manager opted to remain faithful to Lazio.
This summer, Saudi Arabian clubs are experiencing a heightened state of excitement and activity due to their substantial financial resources.
In addition to attracting talented young European players, they are also enticing renowned coaches to consider opportunities in the Middle East.
Maurizio Sarri was among the coaches who received offers from multiple Saudi Arabian teams.
During a recent interview with Sportitalia, Sarri disclosed that he had been presented with a lucrative opportunity to join the Saudi Pro League.
Despite the offer, the coach, who is 64 years old, decided to ignore it and honor his existing contract with Lazio. His contract is set to end on June 30, 2025.
"To be honest, I've had several offers," said the former Chelsea coach.
"For now I'm still happy at Lazio. So talking about money is pointless."
If Lazio does not extend his contract at the Olimpico, Sarri mentioned the possibility of training in Saudi Arabia within the next few years. However, this is contingent upon the circumstances.
"If I'm not happy in a few years or my contract is up, then I can work there for 1-2 years."
"But, for the time being, it's only 2 hours from my house to the training ground, so I see no reason to accept the offer to work there," Sarri said.
