Lotito: "I Don't Want To Let Him (Milinkovic-Savic) Go, I'm Attempting To Renew His Contract. However, You Must Have A Common Desire Set For Both Parties."
Claudio Lotito, the president of Lazio, has stated that he will not impose any pressure on Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to renew his contract at the Stadio Olimpico.
Every time the transfer window opens, there are consistent rumors surrounding Sergej Milinkovic-Savic's potential departure from Lazio.
The speculation surrounding his departure has notably increased, particularly this summer, as his contract with Lazio is set to expire in one year.
Several prominent European clubs have expressed interest in acquiring the services of the Serbian midfielder. These clubs include Inter Milan, Juventus, Chelsea, and Paris Saint-Germain.
Regarding the ongoing transfer speculations surrounding Milinkovic-Savic, Claudio Lotito has expressed his desire to retain the services of the midfielder for the upcoming season. Instead of entertaining offers, Lotito aims to negotiate a contract extension for Milinkovic-Savic
If Milinkovic-Savic exhibits any hesitation towards renewing his contract and expresses a sense of conclusion to his time with Lazio, Lotito is open to the possibility of transferring his star player to another team.
"I don't want to let him go, I'm attempting to renew his contract. However, you must have a common desire set for both parties"," Lotito explained to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
"Naturally we shouldn't sell a player in the first place to purchase new players."
"If a player leaves, it's not because we need money. It's due to a technical decision and I won't compel all players to remain."
Lotito stated that he already had a predetermined list of players he intended to acquire for the team during this summer's transfer window.
The 66-year-old president intends to reinforce the team with more competitive members because the Biancoceleste will participate in the Champions League following season.
"We will improve and that will be our starting point," Lotito continued.
"We will seek out players that are functional and want to increase the depth of the team. We understand what we want to accomplish and we are all here discussing that," he concluded.
