Lazio Stands Strongly Against Racism: Defends Marcos Antonio In The Face Of Racist Fan Remarks
Marcos Antonio has been subjected to serious injustice on the social media platform Twitter. Specifically, the Brazilian midfielder has been targeted with racist remarks from a supporter who claimed that, as a result of his potential departure, the team would revert to having a roster devoid of black players.
Even the official club account Lazio came to the player's defense, expressing their support on Twitter: "Marcos, your battle against Only one word describes the comment which is the result of incivility: shame."
Marcos Antonio himself particularly responded to the author of the post:
"It's incredible and unacceptable that today we still have to discuss this type of situation. So know that you will not shake me at all. My head will always be high and eager to fight against these absurdities."
Last year, the Brazilian midfielder, who is currently 23 years old, made the move to the Roman club from Shakhtar Donetsk. This transfer was valued at approximately €7.5m, and he signed a five-year contract.
In his initial season under the guidance of Maurizio Sarri, he encountered difficulties in securing substantial playing time regularly. Recent accounts have indicated the possibility of his departure during the upcoming summer transfer window.
