[Serie A] Lazio Vs Sassuolo Preview

Lazio attempted to remedy their recent defeats in the Serie A by beating Sassuolo at the Olimpico Stadium.

After Lazio won four consecutive league games by beating Juventus and Roma during this period, but unfortunately, Lazio also suffered back-to-back defeats against Torino and Inter Milan.

A 1-0 loss at home to Torino was followed by a 3-1 loss to Inter at San Siro last weekend, which left Lazio's position even worse.

Maurizio Sarri's side has never really been able to catch Serie A-elected champions Napoli, and although Lazio remains second in the table, the final six games of the season will determine if Lazio qualifies for the Champions League next season.

Just four points separate Lazio and Inter, AC Milan and Roma in fifth and sixth respectively, while there is a six-point gap between Sarri's side and Atalanta who are seventh.

Lazio doesn't want to lose any more points in Thursday's meeting against Sassuolo, whom they have beaten in their last two matches, including a 2-1 home triumph last season, because they have an enticing away game against AC Milan on Saturday.

Sarri's team also defeated Sassuolo 2-0 in an away match in January, and a win on Thursday will give him his first Serie A double in five years.
