Sarri: "We Had A Poor Performance In The European Competition, But We Performed Exceptionally Well In The League. The Most Essential Aspect We Need Now Is For Strong Players To Come To The Club."
Lazio's growth in Serie A this season has been extremely impressive, according to Maurizio Sarri. Nonetheless, he believes his club can improve significantly.
After making it to the top of the standings for the majority of the season, Lazio finally attained the top-four position in Serie A this year. They will represent Italy in the Champions League next season.
In the 37th giornata, Lazio won the battle with Cremonese 3-2, this outcome moved them to the second place in the Serie A standings.
"We had a poor performance in the European competition, but we performed exceptionally well in the league and nobody expected that," said coach Maurizio Sarri as quoted by Football Italia.
"Nobody expected us to finish higher than 7th."
With the Champions League appearances following next season, Sarri expects President Claudio Lotito to make a significant commitment to the club this summer as far as finances are concerned.
Sarri doesn't want the Biancoceleste to simply pass by the Champions League and he also wishes to bring the club to become a competitor in the future for the Scudetto.
"The most essential aspect we need now is for strong players to come to the club," continued the coach.
"We also need decisive players, especially a pure striker."
"And, most importantly, we need players who can help the team finish the season much more easily," the former Juventus coach said.
