Lazio Will Potentially Lose Luka Romero For 2 Months

December 11, 2022

Luka Romero is exhibiting a positive trend. After making his Serie A debut as a starter and just a few days after scoring the decisive goal against Monza. Along with Lazio, Romero has begun to receive a chance to participate. Many believe Romero will have more opportunities in the second round of the competition. However, this plan may be compromised. The cause is, two international competitions could potentially involve Romero and require him to be absent from defending Lazio.

The first is the 2023 U-20 South American Cup, which will take place from January 19th to February 12th of 2023 in Colombia. The chance for Romero to participate in the tournament is substantial, considering that Javier Mascherano, who currently coaches the U-20 Argentina National Team, has a desire in him. However, for this occasion, Romero could still refuse because CONMEBOL, not FIFA, is the organization that has to create this tournament.

Additionally, Romero is also likely to be selected to participate in the Argentina U-20 National Team's 2023 U-20 World Cup in Indonesia, which will take place from May 20-June 11th, 2023. For this event, Romero was unable to refuse because this competition is FIFA's official agenda.

If these two occurrences occur, Romero will be absent from representing Lazio for approximately two months. The Lazio schedule that Romero will miss if he participates in the U-20 South American Cup is the Serie A match against Milan, Fiorentina, Hellas Verona, and Atalanta, as well as the Coppa Italia match against Bologna.

Meanwhile, If he participates in the 2023 U-20 World Cup, he will be unable to participate in Lazio's matches against Udinese, Cremonese, and Empoli in Serie A, as well as the Coppa Italia and UEFA Conference League finals if Lazio is successful in reaching this round.
