Nesta: "He (Romagnoli) Made A Heartfelt Decision, He Went Back To An Important Club. I Think He Did A Good Job."

Alessandro Nesta has hailed Alessio Romagnoli's decision to move to the Italian capital to join Lazio this summer. The former defender also spoke about the season the two city rivals will have.

Former captain Alessandro Nesta has praised Alessio Romagnoli for his decision to move to the Italian capital. The 27-year-old Italian centre-back ended his seven-year career at Milan last summer and went on a free transfer at the end of June. Less than two weeks later, he signed a five-year contract with The Aquile, eventually joining the club he had supported since he was a child.

The former captain of The Aquile was the first to comment on the similarities between Lazio and Roma in Serie A this season.

"Lazio have quality, Roma are passionate and they will have a similar season," he said via Corriere della Sera.

The former Biancoceleste defender then spoke about Romagnoli's decision to join Lazio on a free transfer last summer.

"At Milan he's been playing at a high level for a few years, and then new players come in and he's playing less there."

"He made a heartfelt decision, he went back to an important club and the coach made sure his team played well. I think he did a good job."

With Maurizio Sarri's lead this season, the 27-year-old has been in great form, quickly leading Aquile's backline and forging a strong partnership with Patric. He has missed just one game so far in the 2022/23 season and has been impressive.
