11 Lazio's Players Who Have Received Sarri's Trust and 11 Who Have Not
Head coach Maurizio Sarri has started building a hierarchy at Lazio based on minutes played by the Aquile earlier this season. Half of the 22 players played more than 500 minutes in Serie A and Europa League, the other half played less than 500 minutes.
Lazio has been considered strong since the start of the 2022/23 season and has shown good progress in Maurizio Sarri's second year in charge. The defense is solid and the attack often looks dangerous, although their last two Europa League games have shown they still have work to do, as they also compete for a top-four spot in Serie A.
According to the Corriere dello Sport report, 11 Lazio players have played 500 minutes in all competitions this season, and 11 players have played less than 500 minutes. It can be seen which players have convinced Sarri and which players need further progress.
The 11 players who have featured consistently are Ivan Provedel (982), Ciro Immobile (930), Adam Marusic (879), Felipe Anderson (833), Sergej Milinkovic-Savic (814), Danilo Cataldi (775), Mattia Zaccagni (727), Patric (696), Manuel Lazzari (604) and Luis Alberto (571).
The 11 players who played less than 500 minutes were Elseid Hysaj (431), Matias Vecino (421), Pedro (322), Mario Gila (319), Toma Basic (157), Marcos Antonio (150), Nicolo Casale (147), Matteo Cancellieri (144), Stefan Radu (66), Luka Romero (14), Luis Maximiano (6).
Underused players Marcos Antonio, Matteo Cancellieri, and Mario Gila are looking to get their chance in the coming weeks, while others such as Bertini and Kamenovic may have been excluded from the Italian capital's squad rotation options.
