Performed Exceptionally, Provedel Proves Himself As Lazio's First Choice Goalkeeper
Ivan Provedel has impressed immediately since arriving at Lazio this summer, proving himself as Lazio's first-choice goalkeeper to replace his previous option, Luis Maximiano, in the 2022/23 season.
Lazio's new goalkeeper Ivan Provedel has proven his worth with a string of impressive performances since arriving this summer. The 28-year-old Italian goalkeeper did not start in his first game against Bologna but had the chance to show his skills just six minutes after Luis Maximiano was sent off just six minutes later.
Since then, Provedel has demonstrated his quick reflexes, quick jumps, and strong stopping skills, averaging 3.27 saves per 90 minutes in his five appearances for the Biancoceleste. His estimated goals after shots minus goals conceded +2.1 also reflected his performance for Maurizio Sarri's side.
Provedel earned the Aquile's highest performance rating when taking the loss 1-2 against Napoli this week. He performed better than any other member of the team, saving five shots while keeping the loss respectable. It's very unlikely Maximiano will return to his previous position after the former Spezia man performed exceptionally.
Currently, he and his teammates at the Olimpico are preparing for the first match by hosting Feyenoord, one of the Dutch teams participating in the Europa League group stage, in a match that will take place on Thursday (08/09) evening local time.
