Marcos Antonio Determined To Break Lazio's Starting Lineup
Marcos Antonio has yet to show what he can do after signing for Lazio last summer, but the player is eager to impress Maurizio Sarri at the Stadio Olimpico. The Brazilian is determined to do his best to break into the club's starting lineup in the Italian capital.
Brazilian midfielder Marcos Antonio, 22, has been signed from Shakhtar Donetsk for around 9 million euros in the summer market and signed as a long-term replacement for Lucas Leiva. Since arriving, he has played just 138 of his maximum 810 minutes, and most of that time has been on the bench.
As Corriere dello Sport reports, Maurizio Sarri admires Antonio's technical prowess but also believes his midfield line needs to be at the right level for the 22-year-old to shine.
Sarri wants to ensure that Marcos Antonio isn't just a substitute until the end of the season. He's closely monitoring the player and thinks the right time to play him has yet to come. Sarri may need to wait a little longer before putting the player into action.
The Biancoceleste are fourth in the Serie A standings, three adrift of leaders Napoli. They are scheduled to face Spezia after the International break on 2nd October.
