[Official] Vecino Joins Lazio After His Inter Contract Expires

Lazio has formalized the free transfer of Uruguayan midfielder Matias Vecino after his contract with Inter Milan expired. He becomes the seventh player signed by the Italian capital club this summer.

Mathias Vecino has signed a three-year deal with Lazio worth around 1.9 million euros net per season plus bonuses, after undergoing a medical following a free transfer from Inter Milan.

The midfielder, who turns 31 this month, has joined the Nerazzurri for €24m since leaving Fiorentina in the summer of 2017.

Previously, the Uruguay international had spent most of his career in Italy, starting with Fiorentina in January 2013, and had loan spells at Cagliari and Empoli.

At Empoli, Vecino first teamed up with coach Maurizio Sarri in the 2014/15 season, and the pair are currently working together again at the Stadio Olimpico. A statement on The Aquile's official website confirmed that Vecino had signed a three-year contract. He chose the No. 5 jersey at Lazio.

He played 23 times for Inter Milan last season and contributed 1 goal in Serie A. Lazio also confirmed that the midfielder will begin full training with his new team-mates from Wednesday (03/08).

Meanwhile, Lazio has been quite active in the market this summer, with Maurizio Sarri's side have so far hired seven new players and released several players who are no longer needed and are in surplus at the Stadio Olimpico.
