Lazio Consider Extending Pedro's Contract For Another Year
Lazio is reportedly considering a new contract for Spanish winger Pedro Rodriguez, who has been of increasing importance to the Italian capital club over the past two seasons.
Pedro's presence has become increasingly important for Lazio, with President Claudio Lotito keen to reward the Spaniard. The 35-year-old winger, star of the weekend's 3-1 win over Inter Milan, assisted for Luis Alberto before scoring a fine goal of his own.
Pedro has proven to be a terrific addition to Maurizio Sarri's squad, adding experience and skill. He is also considered the perfect role model for young talents such as Luka Romero.
Corriere dello Sport revealed that the Biancoceleste want to reward the winger for his important role at the club, with Lotito looking to extend his contract until June 2024. His current contract expires at the end of the season and neither club president nor coach Maurizio Sarri wants him to leave.
The 2010 world champion is said to be very happy in Rome and enjoying being back under Sarri. The winger has scored 11 goals and provided six assists in 43 appearances since arriving last summer.
Despite being used as a substitute against the Nerazzurri last weekend, Pedro proved that he was instrumental in securing the Aquile's perfect three points. The Capital Eagles are now preparing for their Serie A away game against Sampdoria on Wednesday (31/08).
