Sarri Still Not Convinced By Maximiano's Current Performance
Lazio's new goalkeeper, Luis Maximiano is still not at his best in pre-season with his new team, according to reports. As the first choice of the Italian capital club, the Portuguese goalkeeper is not convincing enough.
Luis Maximiano has struggled to adapt since arriving at Lazio, where he has reportedly shown limitations and deficiencies. The 23-year-old Portuguese goalkeeper joined Lazio from Granada earlier this summer for around 10 million euros and signed a five-year contract with the club. Lazio wants the keeper to be their No. 1 long-term, but he has yet to impress.
According to Il Messaggero, Maximiano has failed to impress coach Maurizio Sarri since his arrival after showing flaws and problems in his game. The 23-year-old is uncomfortable with his feet, and his out positioning allows him to beatable from long range.
Maximiano needs one-on-one training ahead of the start of Serie A, as was the case with Thomas Strakosha last season. The club certainly has confidence in the Portuguese goalkeeper, but the new season is about to start. The Biancoceleste are reportedly set to sign another goalkeeper as a backup this summer.
