[Official] Reina Returned To Villarreal After 20 Years Abroad
On the club's official website, Villarreal announced that Spain international Pepe Reina will play for the club in the 2022/23 season.
The club has reached an agreement with Reina, who will play for Villarreal this season. The Spain international has signed a contract with Villarreal until June 2023 and returns to the club after 17 seasons with various clubs in Europe.
The new goalkeeper, who has undergone a medical, will make his first training session under Unai Emery this weekend. He will make his official debut as a Villarreal player at a press conference early next week.
He joined Villarreal CF from FC Barcelona at the age of 20 and went on to represent top European clubs such as Liverpool FC, Napoli FC, Bayern FC, AC Milan, Aston Villa, and SC Lazio. He has now returned to Spain, in his second season at Villarreal, where he played three seasons (2002/03, 2003/04, and 2004/05), making 147 appearances and conceding 154 goals, which is one of the best records in the club's history.
Throughout his career, Reina has played a total of 874 matches as a professional player. He has an impressive number of trophies.
He has won the 2010 FIFA World Cup and two European Cups (2008 and 2012) with Spain.

Coppa Italia (2014) with SCC Napoli and Bundesliga (2015) with FC Bayern. With Villarreal, he won the Intertoto Cup in 2003 and 2004.
