Lucas Leiva Has Agreed To Play At Gremio Next Season

The Lazio midfielder has returned to Gremio, where he grew up in football, and will sign a contract until 2023.

Lucas Leiva returns home. After showing his technical and mental qualities in both the Premier League and Serie A, the Brazilian midfielder is destined to wear a Gremio shirt.

Not just any club for the Lazio player, because that's where he grew up at a youth level, then made his debut and played there between 2005 and 2007.

According to GauchaZH, the club and the player have agreed on a contract until 2023. The agreement was approved in Porto Alegre last Sunday afternoon. It just lacks the officialization in the documents.

Grêmio and Lucas Leiva have been talking about a comeback since the end of May. The midfielder has also received an offer from Botafogo following the end of his contract with Lazio, but the interest at the club where he made his debut is more favorable.

Returning to Gremio, Lucas Leiva lowered his salary demands. However, in the contract that he will sign, the player will receive a salary increase if the club returns to Brazil's top flight.
