Lazio Is Keeping An Eye On A Young Real Madrid Talent
Lazio's squad overhaul is intensive in preparation for the 2022-2023 Serie A season, which begins next August.
One of Lazio's current concerns is improving their defense. Lazio is known to be looking for another cheap center-back.
Lazio's main target is AC Milan captain Alessio Romagnoli, who is on a free transfer this summer. In addition, Lazio is also considering Hellas Verona's Nicolo Casale. Also included are two young Real Madrid talents, Mario Gila and Victor Chust.
As La Repubblica reports, Lazio's sporting director Igli Tare continues to monitor 21-year-old Mario Gila, whose contract at Real Madrid expires in 2024.
The Spanish center-back is playing for Real Madrid Castilla this season. At Real Madrid Castilla, Mario Gila played 32 games in the third tier of football in Spain. At the time, he scored two goals and provided an assist.
Lazio was impressed with his consistent performance. The 21-year-old made two La Liga appearances with Real Madrid's first team at the end of the season.
Still, Lazio's move for Mario Gila was no easy feat. Real Madrid does not want to lose Mario Gila and therefore prefers to accept a loan deal. May come with purchase options that include buyback terms.
