5 Players Who Was Lazio's Top Scorer Before Ciro Immobile's Arrival
Ciro Immobile showed in the golden years of his career at Lazio. Immobile has been doing well for the Biancoceleste since joining Lazio in 2016. He is currently Lazio's all-time top scorer with 182 goals in all competitions.
Immobile was also Lazio's top scorer in Serie A three times and has been Lazio's most ferocious player every season since joining.
Who were Lazio's top scorers before Immobile's arrival? Here are the last five names.
1. Mauro Zarate (2008/2009)
Mauro Zarate is an Argentine striker who played for Lazio from 2008 to 2013. In the 2008/2009 season, he was only loaned to Lazio by Al Sadd. Surprisingly, Zarate has become Lazio's top player with 16 goals in all competitions that season.
Due to his sharpness, Zarate was permanently hired by Lazio from the 2009/2010 season. Ironically, after that Zarate's sharpness then decreased. In four seasons, Zarate has scored just 18 extra goals in all competitions. In total, Zarate scored 34 goals in 126 games for Lazio.
2. Sergio Floccari (2009/2010)
In the 2009/2010 season, Lazio's top scorer was Sergio Floccari. Floccari has only scored eight goals in all competitions that season. However, Lazio's players have been lackluster that season, so no one has scored more goals than Floccari.
Sergio Floccari himself is a former Italian striker who played for Lazio between 2010 and 2014. He made 106 appearances for Lazio, scoring 31 goals in all competitions. Aside from his time at Lazio, Flocari has spent most of his career at temporary clubs.
3. Hernanes (2010/2011)
Next up is Hernanes, the Brazilian midfielder who became Lazio's top scorer in the 2010/2011 season. Hernanes had just joined Lazio at the time but immediately looked sharp. He has scored 12 goals in 37 games in all competitions that season.
Hernanes played for Lazio until 2014. He is a regular for Lazio every season, making 156 appearances in all competitions.
Hernanes also won a trophy with Lazio, the 2012/2013 Coppa Italia. Currently, Hernanes has just decided to retire as a player in May 2022.
4. Miroslav Klose (2011/2012, 2012/2013, and 2014/2015)
In 2011, Lazio signed legendary German striker Miroslav Klose. The former Bayern Munich striker immediately became a regular for Lazio. He managed to become Lazio's top scorer in the 2011/2012, 2012/2013, and 2014/2015 seasons.
Lazio themselves ended up being Klose's last club. He retired after Lazio finished the 2015/2016 season. Overall, Klose made 171 appearances for Lazio in all competitions, scoring 63 goals and 35 assists.
5. Antonio Candreva (2013/2014 and 2015/2016)
Another player who became Lazio's top scorer before Immobile's arrival was Antonio Candreva. Candreva is an Italian midfielder or winger who played for Lazio from 2012 to 2016. He was Lazio's number one with 12 goals in the 2013/2014 and 2015/2016 seasons.
During his time at Lazio, Candreva scored 45 goals and provided 43 assists in 192 games across all competitions. Candreva has been with Sampdoria in Serie A since 2020.
The five players above were Lazio's top scorers before the arrival of Ciro Immobile. However, none of them managed to reach 20 goals a season. So, Lazio is very lucky to be able to get Immobile, who can score an average of 30 goals per season.
