Luis Alberto Makes An Assist Record Against Sampdoria
Luis Alberto was outstanding as Lazio beat Sampdoria 2-0 at home on Saturday night (07/05). The Spaniard also matched the assist record he wanted to achieve.
Luis Alberto is aiming to break the assist record ahead of the game against Sampdoria, where he emerged as Lazio's winning hero. The 29-year-old Spanish midfielder has been one of the most important players in Maurizio Sarri's squad this season, albeit inconsistently at times. He came off the bench in last weekend's 4-3 win over Spezia and immediately provided two assists.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Luis Alberto has already contributed nine assists in 32 Serie A games this season, and he is aiming for double figures. He also managed to score a goal against Sampdoria, providing the assist for Lazio's first goal, with Patric heading in. The Biancoceleste midfielder is now only the second Spaniard to provide 10 assists in three different seasons since 2004/05.
The 29-year-old is contracted by The Aquile until 2025 and has made 43 appearances in all competitions this season. In that period he scored five goals and contributed 11 assists and came to finally understand each other with Sarri.
