Thomas Strakosha Is Ready To Make A Record In The Lazio Vs Genoa Match
Thomas Strakosha is reportedly one step away from setting the record for goalkeeping at Lazio, which will be Maurizio Sarri's next game against Genoa this weekend.
Albanian goalkeeper Tomas Strakosha, 27, has re-emerged as the first-choice goalkeeper in Lazio's starting XI this season under manager Maurizio Sarri, replacing Pepe Reina. Despite now being Lazio's first choice again, the goalkeeper has yet to sign a new contract and is ready to move on a free transfer when his contract expires in the summer. He has become a transfer target for Torino and Newcastle, who are willing to offer his services for free.
According to LazioNews24, Strakosha will make his 202 appearances for the Biancoceleste against Genoa this weekend, tying the record set by Scudetto winner, Felipe Pulici.
With 202 appearances, the Albanian goalkeeper will rise to fifth in the goalkeeper list, with most appearances matching the record of Pulici who won the Serie A in 1973-74.
Leading the way are Angelo Peruzzi (226), Ezio Sclavi (227), Idilio Cei (292), and Luca Marchegiani (339). Although it will take three more seasons to tie it, the Albanian goalkeeper could be the player to break Marchegiani's record.
