Sarri Wants Lazio To Extend Patric's Contract
Patric is reportedly set to move to Lazio on a free transfer in the summer, but manager Maurizio Sarri has decided to delay the departure of his defender who has played well this season.
Spaniard Patric, 28, impressed again as Lazio beat Sassuolo 2-1 in Serie A on Saturday. Coach Maurizio Sarri said he was underestimated by fans and highlighted his consistent form.
He has proven to be a flexible and reliable option tactically this season. As reported by Italian newspaper La Repubblica, Sarri wants Lazio to come up with a new contract to keep the Spanish defender, as he believes he will become an important part of Lazio's squad.
The Biancoceleste have won 50 percent of the 24 games when Patric has played this season with 12 wins and five defeats. The club is currently discussing his future but a decision will be made soon.
The 28-year-old Spanish defender came close to joining Valencia in the January market before he could be convinced to stay until the end of the season.
While the Spanish club is ready to pursue him again when his contract expires in the summer, the Rome-based club must make a decision soon if they want to extend his stay in the Italian capital.
