Sarri: "Defensively We Did A Good Job, We Played With Quality And Created A Lot Of Situations. I Want To Give A Strong Message, This Team Has Won 4 Of The Last 5 Games."
Maurizio Sarri praised Lazio's performance after his side beat hosts Genoa 4-1 in Serie A in Marassi on Sunday (October 4).
Lazio beat Genoa convincingly 4-1 at the Stadio Luigi Ferrari on Sunday, with striker Ciro Immobile's hat-trick giving Maurizio Sarri's side all three points. The Italian capital club is looking for a place in European qualifying, and the win is key to putting pressure on their opponents.
The 63-year-old Italian coach debates whether the Biancoceleste's performance against the Rossoblu was perfect.
"Not yet, but we played well and of course, we had problems in the first minute, they were very intense, aggressive, and had a lot of long balls. They were difficult to play but we played with quality, created a lot of situations," the coach said via Sky Sport Italia.
"Defensively we did a good job, although it was a dirty game because of the way Genoa played. We played well away from home recently, but unfortunately, we lost the derby."
He later revealed that when his team lost in the capital derby, he did not want to give up after the loss.
"No, I want to send a strong message. This team has won four of the last five games and that game has become inexplicable and I want to send a strong message from myself or the club."
