Sarri Also Asked Lazio To Keep Lazzari For Next Season
Manuel Lazzari was reportedly on Lazio's transfer list in January but now has become one of Maurizio Sarri's key players. The Italian managed to show his quality, getting his coach to consider keeping him at the Stadio Olimpico.
Italian full-back Manuel Lazzari, 28, was one of the top performers in Lazio's 2-1 win over Sassuolo last weekend, which seemed unthinkable when his departure was confirmed three months ago.
According to La Repubblica, Lazzari has proven his qualities to Maurizio Sarri, and the Italian coach will ask President Claudio Lotito and sporting director Igli Tare to keep the former SPAL player in the Italian capital next season.
Sarri now finds a good balance in the defense of Lazari on the right and Adam Marusic on the left and wants both players to stay in the summer.
The 28-year-old full-back, who has a contract with the Biancoceleste until 2024, has made 32 appearances in all competitions so far in the 2021/22 season, playing 1526 minutes in total. In that period he scored three goals and contributed one assist including one in last weekend's match against Sassuolo.
Sarri will need his quality again when facing Genoa in the Serie A match which will take place on Sunday (10/04). The capital team is aiming for perfect points to send them to finish in the European competition zone.
