Lotito: "You (Immobile) Are The Golden Boot Winner, A Lazio Legend, They Attacked You To Attack Me."
Lazio president, Claudio Lotito tried to encourage and support Ciro Immobile after Lazio's win over Sassuolo at the Stadio Olimpico last Saturday.
Italian striker, Ciro Immobile, 32, has struggled emotionally after Italy failed to qualify for this winter's World Cup in Qatar.
He feels responsibility and guilt after the Azzurri's 1-0 loss to North Macedonia. He has become one of the players who have come under fire in the national team in recent years.
As Il Messaggero reports, after Aquile's win over Sassuolo, Claudio Lotito appeared to assist Ciro Immobile at a dinner where the entire staff and players were present. Claudio Lotito reportedly told the striker: "You are the golden boot winner, a Lazio legend, they attacked you to attack me."
Meanwhile, the 32-year-old also did not put in satisfactory performance in the 2-1 win over the Neroverdi by missing three shots that would normally have resulted in a goal. Maurizio Sarri and his teammates are hopeful he will bounce back in the final part of the season.
The addition of three points makes the Biancoceleste move up one place to sixth in the Serie A standings with a collection of 52 points from 31 matches played and they hope to maintain their winning momentum against Genoa at the weekend.
