Mertens Appears As Another Options For Lazio's Next Summer Reinforcement
SS Lazio is looking for free agents this summer. Napoli's Dries Mertens is reportedly on the wanted list along with Juventus' Federico Bernardeschi.
Biancoceleste's liquidity index problem appear again and prevented them from signing new players until they had to sell first. That's why according to Il Messaggero, plans for next season are therefore aimed at free agents whose contracts are expiring.
Therefore apart from Federico Bernardeschi from Juventus, another very interesting name on the list is Mertens. The Belgian has worked with Maurizio Sarri in Naples. Sarri even transformed Mertens from a winger into a prolific center-forward when he was at Napoli.
Although the 34-year-old has repeatedly expressed his desire to stay at Napoli, he has also made it clear that the club has the option of renewing his contract. It's beyond his control now, and most reports suggest Napoli has no real intention of retaining their all-time top scorer, even with a reduced salary.
