Lazio Prepares Several Tributes To Pino Wilson In The Match Against Venezia
Lazio is reported to have planned to celebrate the memory of former captain, Pino Wilson in the Serie A match against Venezia which will take place on Monday (14/03) evening local time at the Stadio Olimpico.
Pino Wilson, captain of the Lazio squad that won the Scudetto in the 1973/74 season, passed away on Sunday (06/03) morning local time at the age of 76. Several important figures in the Biancoceleste have posted posts paying tribute to the former defender and remembering him with great affection.
Corriere dello Sport reports that the Aquile wanted to celebrate the memory of Wilson in the match against Venice and they had planned several different things that would pay tribute to their former captain.
Ciro Immobile will wear the red captain's armband and the Rome's club will invite the players who won the champions in 1974 to see matches ranging from Giancarlo Oddi and Luigi Martini to Vincenzo D'Amico and Franco Tripodi. The Wilson couple, Daniela, and their children, James and Gilda will also be in attendance.
Before kick-off, there will be a moment of silence, with the captain's image on a black and white background shown on the big screen at the Stadio Olimpico.
The former captain spent 11 years with The Aquile from 1969 to 1980. In that period he made 296 league appearances and was called up to the Italian national team in the 1974 World Cup and put in impressive performances.
After retiring, Pino Wilson is still a fan of The Aquile and a pundit in Italian broadcast media, RAI has consistently commented on the development of his former team over the years, he is a fan of coach Simone Inzaghi and his performances at Rome.
