Lazio Is Preparing A Contract Extension For Stefan Radu
Lazio is reportedly still looking to maintain the services of one of their veterans, Radu, whose contract expires at the end of the season. The Romanian defender is the most capped player in the club's history.
Stefan Radu's contract at Lazio is set to expire at the end of the season, but the capital club's all-time record holder for the most caps is not going anywhere. The 35-year-old Romanian defender has struggled under Maurizio Sarri this season, making just 10 appearances in all competitions for a total of 612 minutes. However, he can still prove himself on the pitch, even if his heel problems still plague him.
According to Corriere della Sera, Biancoceleste does not want to part with the record holder for most appearances and plans to extend Radu's contract for another year. Throughout 2022, the veteran defender has helped his team recover and find their best form.
That means the Romanian will enter his 15th season with the Aquile this summer, a sign of loyalty rarely seen in modern football. In all, the defender has made 422 appearances in all competitions during his 14 years with the capital club, which is the club's record for most appearances. Beneath him is previous record holder Giuseppe Favalli who made 401 appearances during his 12-year career at the Olimpico.
