Muriqi: "I Was Unlucky, But It's Also True That When They Gave Me A Chance I Couldn't Do It Well. The Level Is High At Lazio And It's Not Easy To Catch Up With My Teammates."
Vedat Muriqi revealed the reason he failed to make an impact on Lazio since his arrival in the summer of 2020. Now he moved to La Liga club Real Mallorca in the January market.
Kosovo international striker Vedat Muriqi looks back on his experiences at Lazio following his move to Real Mallorca last month. In an interview with Spanish newspaper El Pais, 27-year-old Kosovo striker Vedat Muriqi discussed his tenure at Lazio and why he failed to make an impact with the Biancoceleste.
"The quality in the Italian league is higher than in the Turkish league and at the start of the season, I had an injury. Then got Covid and I suffered because the level is high at Lazio and it's not easy to catch up with my teammates."
"I was unlucky, but it's also true that when they gave me a chance I couldn't do it well. They didn't spend 20 million euros on me and got nothing, I scored a lot of goals in Turkey and also in the national team."
"You can spend 100 million euros on a player, but when an injury hits they can't perform as expected, that's football."
The Biancoceleste have invested 20 Million Euros for Muriqi in September 2020 after his impressive performances in Turkey with Fenerbahce. He has never really settled in at Roma and scored just two goals in 34 games across all competitions in his first season under coach Simone Inzaghi.
Everything has also been unimpressive under Maurizio Sarri and the 27-year-old Kosovo striker has failed to score a goal for The Aquile this season. But surprisingly he scored on his debut in La Liga for Mallorca, which suggests he may not be fit to play for The Aquile.
