Immobile Sets Another Record For Goal Contribution In Serie A
Lazio's star striker, Ciro Immobile set a record for outstanding goal contributions in Serie A after an impressive 3-0 win over Fiorentina in the match which took place on Saturday (05/02) evening local time at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
As reported by OptaPaolo via Twitter, 31-year-old Italian striker Ciro Immobile has been involved in at least 20 goals in the last six Serie A seasons, something no other player has done more than three times in that time.
The record also pointed out the striker's impressive consistency for Lazio, and why he is considered the talisman of the Roma club. His contract runs until 2026 and he becomes the pillar of confidence in the squad.
In the 3-0 win over Fiorentina, the 31-year-old striker contributed one goal while the other two goals were contributed by Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and an own goal by a La Viola player. The additional three points brought Biancoceleste up to sixth in the standings with 39 points from 24 matches.
This season the 31-year-old Italian has scored 18 goals and provided two assists in 20 Serie A games, only failing to find the net against Atalanta, Sassuolo, Napoli, Fiorentina, and Milan.
The captain is currently recovering from a minor knee injury but he can still put in his best performance for coach Maurizio Sarri and it looks like he will be playing the full game next week against Milan in the Coppa Italia.
