Sarri: "Tonight All The Players Were Involved With A Spirit Of Sacrifice, Including The Young Players On The Bench."

Maurizio Sarri saw Lazio's spirit when they beat Udinese in extra time and he had an unexpected incident on the touchline in the match which took place on Tuesday (18/01) evening local time.

Lazio had to wait until extra time to ensure victory over Udinese because after 90 minutes the game was still a goalless draw.  Ciro Immobile emerged as the hero of his team's victory by scoring a goal using an assist from Danilo Cataldi.  Next, they will face Milan in the quarter-finals which will take place next month.

"The team has improved in terms of spirit and quality, as tonight all the players were involved with a spirit of sacrifice, including the young players on the bench," said Sarri as quoted by Football-Italia.

There was a strange incident that occurred extra time when the coach got too close to the action of his players and was accidentally brought down by Ignacio Pusetto.

"It was a great test for the current state of my body!  I want to say that I was the first to stand up," said the coach with a smile.

Mattia Zaccagni was a bit unlucky because he had to be withdrawn in the first half after colliding with Udinese players.

"Zaccagni sprained his ankle, Pedro had a muscle problem and it wasn't that bad."

Meanwhile, the January transfer window has opened, but the 63-year-old coach has realized that he will have to wait a long time to bring in new players.

"The club is very careful and will not be able to change the squad in one transfer session, I knew that before I came.  The important thing is that the club is mentally ready to accompany us in our increasing growth."
